Frequently asked questions

Does Rowan Cottage have a hot tub?

Rowan doesn't have its own hot tub; it's designed as a light, open-plan space built around its views of Ben Lomond. If a wood-fired hot tub is a must, Sycamore, Birch and Oak each have their own.

How many guests does Rowan Cottage sleep?

Two, in a bedroom with a king-size bed.

Is Rowan Cottage dog-friendly?

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome at £6 per dog per night, with a welcome treat on arrival.

How close are Finnich Cottages to Loch Lomond?

You're inside Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Drymen is three miles away and the loch shore at Balmaha is around a 15-minute drive, where you can pick up the path to Ben Lomond — the Munro that rises across the parkland and frames the view from Rowan's west-facing window.

Can you take a boat out on Loch Lomond?

Yes. From Balmaha boatyard a small ferry crosses to the unspoilt island of Inchcailloch, and cruise boats run from Balloch, Luss and Tarbet further round the loch — an easy half-day on the water.

Where are the best spots for a romantic walk or sunset?

The estate's own woodland and fields are made for an unhurried stroll, and Rowan's west-facing window catches the evening light over Ben Lomond. For a longer wander, Balmaha and the lower slopes of Conic Hill give wide views across the loch at golden hour.

Which Munros can you climb nearby?

Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro at 974m, is the closest and one of the most popular, with its path starting at Rowardennan on the loch's eastern shore. A scenic drive round the loch reaches the Arrochar Alps — Beinn Ime, Ben Vorlich, Ben Vane and Beinn Narnain — alongside the famously craggy Cobbler, just short of Munro height.
